Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What should I bring on my trip?

A: The following is a list of items that you should have on your fishing trip: A signed Ocean Sport Fishing License for the day of your trip (required), layers of clothing, hat and sunglasses, sunscreen, lunch, drinks (no glass), rubber boots (recommended), a cooler for your catch (left in vehicle), and anything else that will make you feel comfortable for your day of fishing is fine within reason, and our somewhat limited space.

Q: Where are you located and what is the parking situation?

A: Head into the Northeast Harbor from the intersection of 7th Ave. and Brommer St. Head down the slight hill and follow the road to the left until you reach a stop sign. Continue straight through the stop sign down (east) side of the harbor with the RV parking to your left until you reach the X-1 gate. At this point, you will need to purchase a parking pass at blue kiosk just outside of the X-1 gate. It is advisable to purchase your pass for the whole day to be on the safe side ($15). Park your vehicle in a spot that has a parking meter and display your parking pass on your dashboard. Parking in a slip renter only spot, failing to purchase, or failing to put enough time on your parking pass will result in a $49 parking violation ticket.

Q: Will I get sea sick?

A: You might. If you are certain you will not get sick, and have been on smaller vessels in the ocean…you will probably be fine. If you are not certain, or have only been on the ocean in larger vessels…you would be wise to take a precautionary medication for motion sickness. I recommend taking Dramamine Original (active ingredient dimenhydrinate). Do not take Dramamine Non-Drowsy (active ingredient meclizine), it does not work as well if at all. Also the prescription Scopolamine patches are very effective. Bottom line: Sea sickness is awful, you’ve paid a lot for your trip…enjoy yourself!

Q: Can I bring my own rod and tackle?

A: We provide all rods, tackle, and bait for our fishing trips. However, if you would like to bring a rod or a small tackle box of your personal gear, we do allow that. If your gear in insufficient for our target species, we will let you know and ask you to kindly leave it in your vehicle. The only exception is on Bluefin Tuna trips. We strongly suggest using our top quality set-ups dialed in for wrangling these powerful fish.

Q: What happens at the end of the trip?

A: After we have docked, the Captain will ask you to remove your personal items and suggest that you go purchase ice for your cooler from Bayside Marine if you have not brought some. Capt. Walker will begin fileting your catch promptly and this process can take up to an hour. If so inclined, this is a great time to go grab a celebratory drink, or feel free to hang out, listen to some music, and chat as your catch is being processed. You will also need to pay for your trip at this point. Any form of the following payments are acceptable: Zelle, Venmo, or Cash.
